Easy Mistakes in Estimating

Some of the mistakes that are made in estimating could have been easily avoided.  The first mistake is not checking all of the drawings to make sure that you have “found” all of the work for your scope of work.  The best way to remedy this mistake would be to make sure that you mark all of the items that you have taken off and review all of the drawings that were issued to make sure that you catch anything that might be shown on the other disciplines drawings.

Another mistake is not catching an unmarked change in an addendum.  This remedy takes more time and effort.  You will have to do a detailed comparison of the reissued drawing comparing it to the previously issued drawing.
