On publicly opened bids all pertinent information should be read aloud. If the information is important enough to be on the bid form, then it should be read. This includes the total dollar amount, addendums received, alternates, and subcontractors all should be announced if it’s on the bid form. Any failures to comply with the bid documents should also be noted at this time.
Questions and rumors can start to fly when it appears the Owner/Architect/Engineer is trying to hide information. If you have nothing to hide, then why hide it? Show that you are the reputable and honest company you claim!
